In line with its commitment to bring people together in a more sustainable, clean and connected city, Metro de Santiago strives to promote a transportation system that respects the environment, is committed to its workers and strengthens relationships of trust with the communities with which it interacts.
In 2024 Metro de Santiago achieved total neutralization of its direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions ahead of schedule. Originally projected for 2025, the goal was met thanks to the certification of 100% renewable energy accredited under the I-REC International Standard, and the compensation of direct emissions generated in the operation (Scope 1) through carbon credits, a process that was carried out by SCX, Santiago Climate Exchange, ensuring compliance and traceability of the CO2 Neutral Certification. This achievement, also recognized by the Huella Chile program of the Ministry of the Environment, reaffirms Metro de Santiago’s leadership in the fight against climate change and its commitment to sustainability, contributing to a better quality of life for people.
