The project contributes to sustainable development through the socioeconomic and environmental development of the region.
On the one hand, the project has generated new job opportunities for the local community and, therefore, has contributed to poverty alleviation and the development of basic services leading to an improvement in the living standards of the community. Employment has been required both during construction and operation of the project activity, which has indirectly generated economic benefits in the area, while increasing commercial activity.
In addition, it has helped meet Chile’s growing demand for electricity using clean and renewable local resources, reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels while simultaneously building capacity for future environmentally friendly power generation projects.
