Providencia Project

The Providencia Hydroelectric Power Plant is located in the commune of San Clemente, province of Talca, in the VII Region of Chile. It has an installed capacity of 14 mega watts (MW) and contributes to the environment by reducing emissions of approximately 37 thousand tons of CO2 per year.

The use of local renewable energy resources contributes to the displacement of coal, diesel and natural gas thermal generation in the SEN.
Generates employment in the area, improving the economic benefits to the surrounding communities, which have a high rate of unemployment and poverty.
Improvement of ACM’s irrigation system (about 2,200 users), through annual payments for water rights.
Provide an example of financing and development of renewable energy projects through a small start-up company using CDM as a relevant source of financing.
